Local Council of Saalfelden

Our local council lies in the heart of the Pinzgauer Saalach region in a long stretching valley at the foot of the "Steinernen Meeres" mountains. It is the largest council in Pinzgau and 3rd largest in Salzburg Province after Salzburg and Hallein with it?s 15,000 inhabitants.

Even though the centre has a city structure feel to it, the charming countryside character outweighs this. The business side of things is dominated by commerce and industry. This is why Saalfelden is the main shopping area in the whole of  Pinzgau and the  neighbouring Tyrol area. It is also recognised as school headquarters for about 3.100 school children who complete their education in the variety of schools here. Approximately 120 associations  make sure there are plenty of lively activities, predominantly in culture and sport.
